Marin General Hospital Honored by State Quality Report Card
MGH Among One-Third of All Recognized Campuses Nationwide
Marin General Hospital is among ten Sutter Health hospitals recently recognized with a prestigious Certificate of Excellence from the California Hospital Assessment and Reporting Task Force (CHART). Only 36 hospital campuses across California received this honor. One-third of the honored hospitals are affiliated with Sutter Health. 218 hospitals participated nationwide.
“Only 17 percent of the participating hospitals received this recognition,” said Mark Kobe, RN, Chief Nursing Officer. “Our efforts to improve healthcare quality for our patients make a positive, measurable difference. These quality initiatives help us identify opportunities to improve care, increase safety and provide better outcomes for our patients.”
The certificate recognizes that MGH achieved above average or superior scores in five of the eight CHART measurements, did not receive any below average or poor score on any measure, and reported data for all of the measurements for which the hospital qualifies. The scores reflect 12 months of data.
MGH received a superior rating in five categories: Quality of Care (Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Pneumonia), Maternity (Breastfeeding Rate) and Patient Safety (Hospital Acquired Pressure Ulcers). Above average ratings were earned in Patient Safety (Surgical Care Measures), Critical Care (Respirator Complications) and Pneumonia (Preventative Care).
Data collected by CHART is available online at www.CalHospitalCompare.org. The free service allows consumers to search for hospitals by location, name or medical condition. Hospitals are ranked on 50 performance indicators, including dozens of conditions such as cardiac care, maternity services and treatment for pneumonia. Patient experience data also is included. Data is voluntarily submitted by participating hospitals. The Sutter Health network has participated on the CHART Steering Committee since its inception in 2004.
“These findings reflect the dedication of our hard working doctors and employees everywhere – from clinicians to those who serve patients behind the scenes,” said Dr. Gordon Hunt, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Sutter Health.
The other Sutter Health affiliates honored by CHART are: Alta Bates Summit Medical Center (Alta Bates and Summit campuses), California Pacific Medical Center (California and Davies campuses), Eden Medical Center, Novato Community Hospital, Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital, Sutter Davis Hospital, Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento (Sutter General and Sutter Memorial hospitals), Sutter Roseville Medical Center and Sutter Tracy Community Hospital.
