Marin General gave $18.8 million in 2007 community benefits
Marin General Hospital contributed $18.8 million (6.91 percent of net patient revenues) in support of 54 community programs and services that benefited 5,266 people in 2007. The majority of this spending was for charity care and un-reimbursed care.
The unpaid cost for Medi-Cal was $10.5 million and $1.5 million for Medically Indigent Adults. Traditional charity care amounted to another $2.1 million.
The hospital sponsored a variety of programs and services in 2007, including financial contributions and in-kind donations of staff services to the Healthy Marin Partnership, free and low cost public education seminars and support groups for breast and prostate cancer patients.
