MGH Volunteers donate almost $270K

CEO David Bradley accepted almost $270,000 from the hospital Volunteers during their annual luncheon at The Spinnaker Restaurant in Sausalito. The money represents the fundraising efforts of over 400 Volunteers and will be used to support a variety of healthcare and community programs.

Volunteer Board President Alyce Daunt presided over the festivities.

“A lot of people are a part of the healing process,” said Bradley. “It’s a long journey. People need comfort and you help provide that. I am very touched by your donations.”

$40,000 in scholarship money was awarded to nine volunteers and 13 hospital employees furthering a healthcare education.

Members from the Poplar Branch, founded in 1961 in Sleepy Hollow, and the Old Mill Branch, founded in 1969 in Mill Valley, officially retired their groups during the luncheon. A retrospective of their years together was presented during a music video.

Established in 1950, two years before MGH opened, the group has contributed more than 3 million hours to the hospital, including 24,725 in 2006.
