MGH Volunteers donate over $253K

The Marin General Hospital Volunteers were honored in May at the 2008 Volunteer Recognition Luncheon at the Spinnaker Restaurant in Sausalito. CEO David Bradley accepted over $253,000 from the hospital Volunteers. The funds will be used to support a variety of healthcare and community programs.

Volunteer Board President Jeanne Austrian presided over the festivities and announced a pledge to raise $1 million for the hospital over the next decade. The Volunteers made a pledge to raise $1 million over 10 years in 2000 and again in 2004 and met the $2 million commitment in half that time.

$32,900 in scholarship money was awarded to five volunteers and 30 hospital employees furthering their healthcare education.

Money was raised by Volunteers in the Gift Gallery retail shop and the BabyNook, as well as by the Mended Hearts and Volunteer branches: Founders, Friendship, Raccoons and Storks. Money was also raised through the art program and from baby photos, various donations and childbirth class registration.

An award from the National Mended Hearts Association was presented by Dotti Reiss, Area Regional Director, to CEO David Bradley. The award honored Marin General Hospital for its outstanding sponsorship of the local Mended Hearts of Marin. Chapter President is Herm Arrow.

Established in 1950, two years before MGH opened, the group has contributed more than 3 million hours to the hospital, including 24,686 in 2007
