Oncology Pharmacy Certifications Awarded
to MGH Pharmacists

Carmen Dett and Elenore “Lina” Amcheslavsky
For the first time in Marin General history, two pharmacists are board certified in Oncology Pharmacy. Carmen Dett of Corte Madera and Elenore “Lina” Amcheslavsky of Greenbrae are among 60 pharmacists in California with this certification. One hundred fourteen pharmacists out of 211 passed the most recent Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (BPS) Oncology Pharmacy Specialty Certification Examination.
“The rigorous nature of this examination means that both of them should be very proud of their achievement,” said Michael Sillman, MGH Pharmacy Director. “Many hospital pharmacies would be pleased to have one such oncology expert on staff. We now have two of them.”
Very few community hospital pharmacists acquire this certification, according to Sillman.
“In the past, nearly everyone was associated with academic centers,” he said. The BPS certifies and recognizes pharmacist’s knowledge and skills at an advanced level. BPS governs five specialties: oncology, nuclear medicine, nutrition, psychiatry and pharmacotherapy.
