Pediatric Services

Marin General Hospital pediatricians provide round the clock coverage for newborns and children. The Pediatric Hospitalist Program ensures all newborn babies delivered at MGH are evaluated immediately after birth and a pediatric medical team is available if a newborn develops a serious medical emergency. For a woman experiencing a high-risk pregnancy who may need an emergency cesarean section, the Pediatric Hospitalists are on hand to work with obstetricians.

All of the Pediatric Hospitalist physicians care for children with a variety of conditions and have special skills in hospital-based pediatric care. These physicians are all board certified in pediatric medicine and consult with emergency staff, surgeons and primary care physicians to provide the most comprehensive care possible. They do not replace a family's usual pediatrician or family practice physician.

MGH’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the only one in Marin County, is fully equipped for the specialized care of infants needing extra medical attention, such as premature or multiple births.

The pediatricians also provide services for children in the hospital’s Emergency Department. They work closely with the family's regular physician so that they know what is going on with the child’s emergency. The regular physician continues to provide hospital care as well as seeing the child in their private medical office.

Our pediatric team also includes registered nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, occupational and physical therapists, social workers, dieticians, chaplains and volunteers.

The Pediatrics Unit is located in the Central Wing at MGH.
