Ownership & Type

MGH affiliated with Sutter Health, a network of 27 hospitals in Northern California and Hawaii, in January 1996. The Marin General Hospital's Board of Directors, made up primarily of volunteer community leaders, makes policy decisions about patient care, finances, strategic planning and community benefits. The five members of the publicly elected Marin Healthcare District, under terms of a 30-year lease signed in 1985, own the hospital's buildings and grounds. MGH has not received taxpayer support since 1976.
